The forum was held at the Maison Football Roche Caiman from 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 34 young persons aged between 15 and 18 years were present.
The main objective of the forum was to educate and inform the participants on HIV, AIDS and Viral Hepatitis means of transmission, prevention, testing and treatment.
The participants were welcomed by the Chairperson of NAC, Mrs Peggy Vidot and the forum was officially opened by the Secretary of State for Health, Ambassador Marie-Pierre Lloyd. It was attended by members of the NAC Board and National Strategic Plan Steering Committee as well as other high officials from the Department of Health.
The forum was structured so that it would be very interactive. To break the ice we had a series of questions asked to the floor by one of the facilitators, Mr Morrison Julie.
As the day rolled on, the participants had gathered a lot of knowledge on HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis. What was noted was that most of them initially did not know the difference between HIV and AIDS and had no insight on the transmission of Hepatitis.
